Apparently my aura says I’m a “channel”

Apparently my aura says I’m a “channel”

I have a full breakdown of this aura photo at the very bottom of this email for anyone interested in what colors mean what!

One thing I’ve been trying to do more intentionally this year is take myself on little “artist dates.”

If you’ve ever read The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, you probably know exactly what I mean. The idea is simple: regularly doing small, inspiring things that refill your creative well instead of constantly asking yourself to produce.

So this past year, I did something outside my normal routine and went to Aura Theory  (if you're in VB, I highly recommend this for a girls night or a date idea, they're at 301 25th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451). I mean, a portrait filled with extra color? That's perfect for an artist. Sign me up.

This winter I was at an event and saw Aura Theory had a booth, so I popped in for a second photo. I was feeling under the weather that day and I wonder if that's why my aura felt more dim. Pretty fun to see it hadn't changed too much in 8 months.

And honestly? It was fascinating. I went back more than once!

Sarah (@aura.theory) photographed my aura and started explaining the colors and energy patterns showing up around me. Apparently there was a lot happening. 😂

The part that really stayed with me was when she said I reminded her of Pharrell Williams after photographing his aura years ago. She described both of us as “channels”—people with our "heads in the clouds" creatively, but "feet on the ground" in reality, which says we're still grounded enough to bring those creative ideas into the physical world. (if you want the full color breakdown I'll put it at the bottom so you can see what colors mean what).

That one got me.

Because that’s exactly what painting feels like sometimes.

Like catching something invisible and trying to give it shape, texture, color, emotion.

Anyway, now I’m curious:

Have you had your aura photographed? (if so send me the pic, I'm dying to see it!)

Or tell me, if you're also an artist, what’s your version of an “artist date”?

And if you're not an artist, what’s something small that makes you feel inspired, alive, creative, or more like yourself?

P.S. If you're in Virginia Beach go check Aura Theory out, Sarah travels often so may be coming to your city soon!

Here's what our crew's photos looked like and how our auras changed when we took photos together. So fun!

THE COLOR BREAKDOWN

Based on the colors, my aura has a classic “creative channel open” signature. The deep indigo and violet tones arced at the top were referred to as an "Enlightenment Band" and they point to imagination, intuition, and my ability to pull ideas seemingly out of nowhere—the kind of energy artists have when they feel a concept before they can explain it.

The strong red and magenta glow layered underneath adds emotional intensity and passion, which is why my work feels personal and alive instead of just “pretty.”

What stands out most is the contrast between the calm, dreamy upper colors and the fiery warmth below. That combination often shows someone who turns emotion into beauty—someone who processes life through color, texture, storytelling, and visual expression. In other words: my art isn’t decoration. It’s translation.

There’s also a softness to this field that suggests people don’t just look at my work—they feel it. That’s the mark of an artist whose energy leaves an imprint long after people walk away.
